Data collected from this App will be viewed by Green Flag and shared with U K Insurance Limited who underwrites Green Flag rescue policies. Data will be shared with our service providers in order to assist your rescue, breakdown or to analyse and report on your driving scores. We do not pass your information to anyone else unless we have your agreement or if we’re permitted or required by law to disclose the information.


When you first use the App or browser version, you will be invited to identify your Green Flag policies. The information collected at that time is used only to identify you and link your App / browser registration User ID to your Green Flag policies. Other than your User ID, the information you provide for this purpose, will not be retained after the linking procedure.


When you use the App or browser version to request breakdown rescue, we will collect details of the incident, breakdown symptoms, driver and relevant information concerning the situation. We will also collect the location of the vehicle, either from the phone’s location service if using the App or manually keyed by you if using a browser. This information, along with details of your policy entitlements will be passed to the Recovery Service Provider company for the purposes of getting to you as efficiently as possible.

When the Recovery vehicle is on its way to you, we will display a map showing its progress. If you are using the App you will also see your stated incident location.


If your vehicle has an AlertMe device fitted, we will collect certain fault related information generated by your vehicle and this will be displayed to you. If your vehicle has AlertMe fitted and you request rescue, certain fault related information generated by your vehicle, will be passed to Green Flag and on the Recovery Service Provider, in order to aid their service to you.

Rate My Driving

Once Rate My Driving is activated it will record and analyse data about your driving to give you feedback. We will use the data to understand your location, the road type, direction, road speed and other conditions relating to your journey.

Location Consent

By using this app, you are giving your consent for your location details to be passed to the recovery company and to be used to rate your driving. This data is only available to the recovery company for the duration of the incident and is used for Rate My Driving for a 1000 miles, Rate My Driving automatically stops collecting the data once you reach 1000 miles. After which the details will be held on the Green Flag system to administer your Rescue policy and comply with our legal obligations. If you do not wish the App to be aware of and to automatically collect your location information, you may disable your phones location service for the Green Flag App but when request rescue, you will need to manually key your location details. If you disable location data we will be unable to rate your driving.

How do we keep your data safe?

We and our suppliers will collect, use and store personal information securely inline with the General Data Protection Regulation and our policies on data retention. Your data will be protected in line with industry best practice and our legal and regulatory requirements.

We may transfer rights and obligations under this agreement. We can share anonymous data we receive from Driver scoring with the general public and third parties. If we choose to do this we won’t release any information which identifies you personally. All our suppliers follow the same rules we do.

Access to your information

You have the right to see the information we hold about you. This is called Subject Access Request. If you would like a copy of your information, please write to: The Data Protection Officer, Churchill Court, Westmoreland Road, Bromley BR1 1DP quoting your policy reference. A fee may be payable.

Fraud Prevention

To help prevent or detect fraud, we might share or check information with other organisations, including fraud prevention agencies or the police. If any of the details we’ve got look like they might be false or wrong, we’ll record that.
